K-3 Garden Spring 2012

K-3 Garden Spring 2012
A cleaned out garden bed.

Mr. Conard comes down for a morning of planting!

Thursday is Mr. Conard's morning on the Short Hills Campus and this morning was extra special! After his meeting, he and Mr. Corvino stopped by the garden to help out with a little garden maintenance and some planting! Together with a first and third grade class, they planted lettuce and peppers, watered veggies, filled up wheel barrows with soil and enjoyed a morning of garden fun! We look forward to more visits!

3B plants parsley, beets, red romaine lettuce and mixed greens!

The sun is out and there is LOTS of activity in the garden today! Mr. Corvino joined several classes for some morning planting and got a "how to" lesson on planting radishes, broccoli and cauliflower. He also helped making math grids for some of the other raised beds. Our community garden is really shaping up!

Brrrrr! It was cold, but we managed to get a little more raking, digging and fertilizing done.

Our teacher finally put down the camera for one minute... Smile!

Lots of teamwork by garden groups!

Rocks to cover an unsightly drain... soon to be the home of our beautiful bird feeder from a special elf!

There's lots of raking to do and we had fun doing it!

We all worked together and a lot got done!
