On the weekend of July 16 & 17th, on all that heat... I went to the NY Botanical Gardens to spend some time in the Howell Family Gardens. I took several classes about fall vegetable gardening, pruning, companion planting, cold frames and making our garden a three season garden. At the gift shop I bought two (2) books. One called Weed, Water and Wait and one on George Washington Carver. There was also a nice section of the family garden dedicated to Dr. George Washington Carver! Stay tuned for a book review to arrive on the blog by a summer garden student!

Our teacher finally put down the camera for one minute... Smile!

Lots of teamwork by garden groups!

Rocks to cover an unsightly drain... soon to be the home of our beautiful bird feeder from a special elf!

There's lots of raking to do and we had fun doing it!

We all worked together and a lot got done!
